Past

In the beginning there was only the void, but it was not as empty as some believed. The void was conscious, but alone. There was nothing else within that vast emptiness besides the echoing of his thoughts. It was these thoughts that gave rise to the creation of the void children. It appeared to the void that these thoughts took a life of their own as they bounced around, but they died before he could be certain. He begun to wonder what would happen if those thoughts didn't die? Would they just continue to bounce around or would they gain a consciousness of their own?

The void tried countless different ways to keep those thoughts alive, but nothing he did kept them around any longer than they have been before the idea struck him. Just as he was beginning to accept that there will never be anything more than him and his echoing thoughts, an idea hit him. In order to keep a thought alive, he needed to infuse it with his essence. He needed to give it consciousness not wait and see if consciousness grew. He took three distinct thoughts and planted a seed of his own essence in the middle of each, and waited to see what would happen.

Those seeds twisted and grew inside those thoughts, and when those thoughts started to fade away those seeds revived them. He watched as both those thoughts and seeds took a life of their own--each influenced by the other until the three became six. It was not just in consciousness that the three became six, but in form as well. Somehow each seed became separate from the thought they had been inside of, at least that is the easiest way to put it. The truth is that each seed and thought took their own distinct from that was independence of each other in every way, but every seed still had a connection with the thought they had dwelled inside.

It might even be said that each seed still lived within the thought they had been placed in, or that each thought still had the seed that had been placed inside it. However separate one might consider the seed from the thought, they became the six warlords that ruled over the other inhabitants that came to be within the void. The void doesn't know for certain how these other beings came to be. Perhaps when the seeds became separated from their thought small pieces of their essences dropped within the void and lives formed out of those, or perhaps when he first put those essences inside those thoughts he dropped some on the ground and those formed into these other life forms. It was possible that both theories were true or that neither were.

Either way, the void wasn't as empty as it once had been. The void along with his six children help shape this realm into what it became today, and they along with the other denizens of the void lived within that kingdom for eons beyond counting. However, deep within the void something had been growing. When he had planted those seeds of essence within those thoughts all those time ago he had planted a different type of seed deep within his own core. It was nothing more than a small spark, but it grew as life within the void continued to grow until one day it burst free from him with a consciousness all her own.

This new being was light. She was his daughter as much as the six warlords, but there was something different about her. Her essence was different than theirs. They did not figure this out right away. First, light became the queen of the void. She ruled along side her husband for eons. She would not be the only queen he took, but she would be far the most important. Than one day, it became clear how she was different from his other children. She became pregnant with his child. None released that life could come about in this way, and the first six tried to bring forth a child in this manner to no avail.

She gave birth to a beautiful boy, whom was loved by both his mother and father. The birth of her child sparked an idea in her mind. She begun to wonder if she was able to give birth with her body if she was capable of giving birth with her mind, as well. After a few mishaps, it appeared that she was. She great the world Asmiara and a race called the witches to inhabit this planet. This world was not a dominion of the void. She pulled it free from the void, and this allowed this planet to be governed by a different set of rules than ones that the void followed.

She mimic void's kingdom in many ways when it came time to shaping her own creation. She created six concepts that she believed would help them thrive as a people, but she also asked her siblings to oversee aspects of this new creation. She believed that their influence were just as important for the well being of her creation as the six concepts she created. She also knew that a creation like hers will need energy to maintain, and knew that it would need to be brought into the void to recharge. She asked her six siblings to take upon this role--to be the ones that brought it back into the void, because if they did not it would not just harm her creation but the very fabric of the void itself. This is how the void's first six children became known as the destructive concepts.

Those six concepts eventually created their own lives, and the void watched in amazement as that life spread and developed across the planet. However, it became clear that he and the other denizens of the void were unable to interact with this world in the same manner they had the void itself. Their form were incorporeal, but they eventually learned how to gain a more solid form. There were two ways to do this. The first was to be born into this realm, but the down fall with this method was they tended to forget whom they were. The second method was to possess a body, but the down fall with this one was their connection to Asmiara was not as strong as if they had been born into it.

The void choose to posses bodies. He usually took control of someone who was dying and had no help of recovery, or someone whom had recently perished. He had been known to take possession of a perfectly healthy body when the mood struck him, but that was rare. He collected countless bodies over the eons, interacting with the people of the physical world--both upon the planet Asmiara and countless other planets that have taken shape within this physical plane, but none called to him like she did.

She was a human girl from a planet called Earth named Adelaide James. He watched her from a far, protecting her to the best of his ability without revealing himself to her, because earth were maintained by a different set of rules than Asmiara. Upon this planet, the supernatural in all its varieties were viewed as a thing of fiction. There was, also, the fact his ability to interact with her was limited due to the fact he tended to watch her while in his incorporeal form. He grew to love her with each passing day until she became a beautiful young woman.

He wasn't the only one to come to love her in this manner. Her brother held romantic feelings towards her, but he never told her---afraid that he would lose her if he did. In spite this secret, Adelaide and her brother were extremely close. They had only had each other since their parents had died. One day her brother became extremely ill. Adelaide begun to search around for a cure. First she tried traditional means then she started looking into the occult. It here that she met him--the witch that would help bring her brother his cure.

His name was Colden and he was from Asmiara. He was not a full witch. He was only half. Only his father had been a witch while his mother had been human. This witch was, also, the void's grandson. The void had impregnated his grandmother with his father and aunt. Colden tried to heal Adelaide's brother, but to no avail. She was sadden by this news, but the young witch did not give up after one attempt. He kept returning and during that time Adelaide and Colden fell in love. Colden's older brother catching wind that he was spending so much time on earth followed him what day to see what the reason for this was.

He demanded that his brother stopped having his fun with the humans and come home, and was prepared to drag him home if need be. Colden begged his brother to heal Adelaide's brother first. He was willing to accept whatever punishment he was willing to dish out if he could do that. Colden's brother agreed to his request upon laying eyes on Adelaide. This brought great joy to Adelaide, but soon it became clear that this kindness wasn't without a price.

Colden's brother decided to take her back to Asmiara as his slave, and that would be the last time she would see her brother as human. While she was gone, her brother came to believe that she didn't come to visit him because she no longer cared. He feared that she had learned the truth about his feelings, but he learned that she still cared a great deal for him when Colden appeared. Adelaide had been killed and the young witch had been hit hard by her death. It had caused him to ascend rapidly. Too rapidly some might say, because it fractured that mind.

He knew that he couldn't join Adelaide in the afterlife, but that didn't mean that her brother had to suffer the same fate. He had been without his sister while she had been on Asmiara--believing she stayed away because she no longer cared when in fact she stayed in order to protect him. It wasn't fair for both of them to suffer her absence and if her brother joined her in the afterlife Adelaide wouldn't be alone. So, he killed him but her brother didn't pass onto the after life. He had not wanted to die and his spark for life increased when the void came to him.

The void told him that Adelaide's death was nothing more than a ruse created by a demon named Dasan and she was very much alive. Her brother wanted to fight death in order to go to her, but was powerless against it. The void told him that he could spare him such a fate if he allowed the void to merge with him. This merger would be very different than the possession of his other bodies. It would join the void's essence with Adelaide's brother's soul as well as the void's essence to his body rather than just the void's essence with the body as was typical.

The void had seen the light form this connection with mortals over the years, and was curious on how it worked. He never found anyone he had wished to join in this manner until he met Adelaide's brother. Her brother agreed--believing that if he did this that he would always have the power to protect his sister. The void saw this merger as a chance to be with her, and actually cement not only his love for her but help her brother cement his love, of course that last part only became a thought after they merged.

  Present

The void had thought that Adelaide would be overjoyed that her brother was still alive, but her reaction to their merger were anything but that. She was angry over what had been done, and the fact that the void was walking around inside his body only increased her grief. It took her awhile to understand that her brother was still alive inside the void, and that because of this merger the void was more or less her brother. He took to being her brother so much that he has adopted his name. Through, he claims that he has taken the name partly because Areli is easier for the human tongue to pronounce.

Adelaide and Areli have been slowly figuring out the definition of their relationship, and he hopes that someday that he will be able to convince her to return to the void with him. But, until that day, he watches over her and will keep her safe from anything that means her harm. He has even forbidden the six destructive concepts from bringing about the ends of days while she is in it when they happened to find their way into the physical world.
